Adoptic - Expand Your Blog Readership - Very Useful Tool for Bloggers

Don't forget to subscribe to iwebis RSS feed. You can also Subscribe to iwebis by Email Thanks for visiting!

I stumbled across this website called Adoptic the other day and so far I am very impressed. Adoptic is currently in private beta but my guess is that it will take off quite nicely when it has launched to the public.
Adoptic is similar in concept to Entrecard only a much better customizable design to the widget. I don’t think I have ever officially blogged about my dislike for Entrecard’s design but I probably should ;) .
Unlike Entrecard, Adoptic is only for bloggers. The simple widget offers your readers “Snippets” of blog posts from other blogs. You control who gets to include snippets on your blog. You also get to choose which of your blog snippets will be promoted and what level of promotion you desire (low, medium and high). Each user can join communities that best fit their interests.
The idea is that each time a snippet is shown on your blog it earns you credit to have your snippet shown on another blog in your community. So unless you have absolutely zero traffic coming to your blog you will never run out of credit.
There is also a savings account where you can save up credit to later be used on promoting your snippets. The use of this feature has not been activated yet but you can earn savings credits by inviting friends.
What I really like about this type of blog promoting is that you have control of who your audience is. You have the control over what snippets are published on your blog as well. And it’s all free!
I am still not fully clear about how the system works. I can tell you that so far my snippets have been shown 2398 since the I first signed up four days ago. So after only four days HerProBlog.COM is already benefiting from using the Snippet widget.
Since Adoptic is in private beta you will need an invite to start using the service.
For more information about Adoptic you can check out their about page. You can view the FAQ page for more information.

I can send you an invite if you contact me with your email address.

Check out the screenshot of my dashboard. You can also view Adoptic at work by visiting HerProBlog.COM (in sidebar).

Made Some Changes to iwebis.

I decided to play around with the design of the site. I just testing things at this point so I am not sure it will stay this way. I don’t think I like the look of my new logo and I am likely to change it.
It’s a bit difficult getting used to a new look but sometimes I think it’s necessary to change things up a bit from time to time.

Feedback appreciated.

Getting Back Into The Swing of Things - Becoming a Blogger Again

I am not sure why it is that I have a difficult time focusing on more one type of activity at a time. It’s not like I can’t do more than one thing at a time. I am a mom of three children after all. I just seem to have a difficult time transitioning from one type of activity to another.

For example, when I was heavily into developing the idea for HerProBlog.COM and building the website I was then in “startup” mode. All I could think of was design, layout, marketing ideas (well I still do that), organizing all content from the writers and so on. It was extremely difficult for me to think of anything to write about on my four other blogs.

The funny thing is that as soon as I wrote a good article and was released from the stress of the official launch, a flood of blogging ideas came to me. It’s was like I went from website developer to blogger overnight. I am now in full blogger mode again and I expect that I will be writing more content on all of my blogs.

Though I enjoy creating blogs just about as much as writing on them, I am still happy to be back in the swing of things.

ScribeFire - A Very Useful Blogging Tool - For Mozilla Firefox Web Browser- Official FireFox 3 Download Day

I stumbled across ScribeFire. I actually stumbled across it with out using StumbleUpon…funny huh? Anyway, ScribeFire is not really a new discovery to may people but it was for me. I figure that there must be others out in the blogosphere that don’t know about this extension for the Firefox Web Browser so here I am writing about this useful tool.

Before I get into the usefulness of ScribeFire I am going to offer you reasons why you should be using the Mozilla Firefox Web Browser. Since ScribeFire only works as a FireFox extension so you will need to have this browser installed in order for it to work.
There are many web users that have not discovered the usefulness of the FireFox browser so I am going to give a brief and to the point reason why you should download this browser. Since many of my readers are bloggers you are likely to be able to relate to a comparison of using the two most popular blogging plateforms - Blogger and Wordpress (self-hosted).

The difference in using FireFox and other browsers is basically the same difference between using Blogger and Wordpress. Both are useful, both get the job done but only one offers you practically limitless customizing options through plugins. Yes, other browsers do allow you to add extensions, however because most other browsers are not open source there are far fewer extensions/add ons that can be added.

The great thing about open source software applications such as Wordpress and Firefox is that there is a world of potentially great extensions/plugins that can be and are created by people from all over the world. The limitless part comes from the fact that a world of talent can help create the exact extensions/plugins you desire making your browser or other applications fit your needs. So if you don’t already have FireFox, you are missing out on some great opportunities for making your life easier. Today is the official release of FireFox 3.

One thing you are definitely missing out on if you don’t have FireFox is the ability to use ScribeFire. ScribeFire is a very useful tool that allows you to blog while your are still browsing the net. The more I use this application the more I can see it was created by active bloggers.

The features offered on ScribeFire make logging into your Wordpress blog almost unnecessary. Notice I said almost unnecessary, not all together unnecessary. With the exception of modifying your theme, checking your comments and adding plugins, this application does just about everything. Here are a list of features I have found very useful.

  1. The text editor is similar to WordPress making this app easy to use. Plus you can view a live preview and html version of your draft.
  2. You can insert YouTube video and Flickr photos quickly and easily.
  3. You can set up multiple blogs making switching very easy.
  4. You can easily share your blog post to social media sites after it has published by clicking on the Share This tab.
  5. The options tab allows you to modify the timestamp, add tags to posts and trackback urls.
  6. You can view a list of past blog entries published from within the ScribeFire.
  7. The ScribeFire Toolbar becomes visible only when you are visiting the blogs that you have setup with ScribeFire.
  8. You can save notes to your ScribeFire. Great feature for helping you keep track of all of your blogging ideas while you are searching the net.
  9. You can write and surf or search the net. No need to open another window or tab. A great multi-tasking tool.

Since I just started using ScribeFire there are features I am sure I have not discovered yet. So far I am extremely impressed with this blogging tool. I have tried to use other tools similar to ScribeFire but none have been as good as this one. As I was writing this post I was able to search for information I need for this post without having to open a new browser window or tab.

Watch ScribeFire in action.

Watch the HerProBlog.COM Promo/Buzz Video

I am a bit of wannabe amateur movie maker. Over the past few years I have dabbled in producing movies and glorified slide shows. I enjoy making videos and hope to in the near future get a better software program that will help me improve the quality of my videos.

I made a promo/buzz video for HerProBlog.COM???????? ????? ???????? to help get the word out. The video is very short and somewhat vague but I did that on purpose. The idea is to spark interest and to only give enough information to make people wonder which will hopefully cause them to subscribe.

So here it is, the HerProBlog.COM Promo Video 1. If you want to help create a buzz please write about HerProBlog.COM and include the video on your blog. I would really appreciate the publicity ;o) .
